Trying to combine databases

Postby PFunke » Mon Sep 10, 2012 2:09 am

I have usually made data bases for each month but wanted to get a bigger picture by looking at the year. When I tried to import all the old histories into one data base the resutlts were not correct. I went back and tallied the databases. I had won much more. Btw, I'm on merge, carbon poker to be specific. Any suggestions on what might fix this issue?

Do you have tournaments or only cash hands?
Are you sure you have all of the hands in your combined database? Do the hand counts match? If you look at the results by month is there a particular period which isn't right?

There were a few periods that weren't right. I have mostly cash games and few tourneys. I forgot to total the hands from both the combined and single database...however I'm fairly certain I have them all....

If you have entered any tournament results manually in your old databases then you won't get those results in a new database if you only import the hand histories. You would need to either enter the results manually or export your results from the old database and import those files.
If you have a difference in cash games and you can identify a period which doesn't match between databases we'll be happy to investigate for you, if you attach the hand history files for a session which didn't import correctly to a Support Ticket and tell us how much you actually won or lost.

So if I understand correctly, I should identify if sessions aren't adding up correctly and then try to target individual tables and the hand history itself must be corrected.

We need to find out whether all of the hands are in the histories you have, and whether there are any import errors - the solution will depend on what the problem is with the hands.

Why use separate databases in the first place just use one and set filters and date ranges?

yes i realize now that I had made a mistake in using a database per month. I noticed that my hud was not showing all of a players hands from all data bases now that I have about 6 total. I think HUD will work much more efficiently with 1 database. I'm working on importing a month a time and I'll start to see where my problem is.
