Party lag

Postby cristi13 » Wed Oct 24, 2012 11:43 am

Hi,
Party client is getting real laggy in long sessions. When i start playing both the hud and the client work perfectly but the lag builds up as i play. I am not sure if its because of PT or the client. I am using FreePHG while playing and i am getting some duplicates because the hands i play are imported both from the Party folder and from FreePHG folder. Anyway, even when importing only played hands i still get lag after 1000 hands or so and i usually play very long sessions. The biggest lag i get is deep in a session when i close a table i played for a long time and the hud has to close, sometimes it even freezes for 10-20 seconds and i miss action on tables.

What are your system specs? CPU, RAM, hard disk speed, etc?
How many tables are you playing at once?

I'm playing 4-8 tables and some others opened as i change them quite a lot.
Config: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz, 2 GB RAM 800 MHz, 2 hard disks with 7200 rpm SATA2. I know it's a bit outdated and i wanna get a new PC at the end of this year. What would be the most important in my new configuration to keep things running smoothly? Also, would adding more RAM to my current configuration improve performance?
Thanks

More RAM will help, although if you have 32-bit Windows you can't go beyond 3GB anyway.
What operating system do you have?
A faster CPU will help too of course, and the faster hard disk you can get the better. Some users have reported good improvements using SSDs, but of course that comes at a price.

Please check that your cache is at 100% for all sections - see the status bar at the bottom of PT3.
If not, run Database > Housekeeping.
