cannot restore database

Hi there!

I reently bought a macbook. I used to play on a windows computer. I already restored my last database successfully, but today when I wanted to log in for the second time it wouldnt work for some reason. So i uninstalled pt3 and did it all again. I think I ve created a new database now.

So I just installed my pokertracker 3 again and already have my backup.zip file on my computer. When I am in PT3 now and click on database management and then restore it shows me:

"unable to login to database (postgresql) reason: FATAL: password authentification failed for user "postgres" "


What can I do now?

By the way there are 2 databases in the database management window. I guess the other one is my last one. I can´t set this one active though.

That means that the password you're using for PostgreSQL doesn't match the one your computer is expecting. If you follow this troubleshooting guide it will walk you through how to get that fixed.

Sorry for the late reply. very busy at the moment.

I´ve got a macbook air and os x 10.8. when I go finder ---> programs then all i find is a folder called PostgreSQL 9.2

In the folder I find
- Application stack builer
- pg admin III
- reload configuration
- SQL shell
- and a folder called "documentation"

Sorry for beeing noobish but I dont even know how t open PostgreSQL :(

Firstly, PostgreSQL 9.2 is not supported as it has bugs which are known to affect PokerTracker functionality.

Check out this guide on how to uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL. You'll need to install v9.0, but that should get your postgres user sorted out as well.

I apologise for being a computer noobie.

Here is what my terminal tells me:

Renes-MacBook-Air:~ Rene$ ls /Library/PostgreSQL/
9.0 9.2

So 9.0 and 9.2 are installed. Do I still need to uninstall 9.2? Can I not just go in 9.0 and get the password fixed? however I have no idea where to find 9.0.

If that doesn t work and I still have to uninstall all of postgresql, I have no idea what to do even though, it is described in the guide. Where do I have to enter the uninstall-command?

You can follow our uninstall guide directions here - just use "9.2" instead of "8.4".

yeah that guide was linked before but as i ve said it doesn t help me.

Look here is what I enter in the terminal:

-bash: /Library/PostgreSQL: is a directory
MacBook-Air:~ $ ls /Library/PostgreSQL/
9.0 9.2

and then:

execute/Library/PostgreSQL/9.2/uninstall-postgresql
-bash: execute/Library/PostgreSQL/9.2/uninstall-postgresql: No such file or directory


what am i doing wrong?

Run ls /Library/PostgreSQL/9.2/ and tell me what is in that folder please.

Maybe our directions were not clear - we mean to run the uninstall-postgresql file that's in that folder. You can get there in finder by pressing ctrl+shift+g and typing in that location /Library/PostgreSQL/9.2/ then double clicking uninstall-postgresql.
