Go Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services
Look for PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3 and PostgreSQL Database Server 8.2. Whichever one is started is the one that you are using. Whichever one is not started you are not using. If they are both started then we'll need to determine via a different method ;)

Only 8.3 is running so will uninstall 8.2. Thanks for all your help Derek, much apprieciated
