Having Serious Problems

Postby VincenzoMancini » Fri Aug 22, 2008 8:28 am

My PT3 stopped working today, so I decided to do a complete re-install which went fine.

But then I couldnt get access to postgreSQL, so I tried to change the login details, and that didnt work. So i tried to uninstall postgreSQL, and remove the folders, which appeared to go ok, but now I get this when I try to re-install.

Im pretty confused now. Ive searched the net for a straight forward answer, but everything seems very technical, and I am not computer savvy.

All I need to do is start from scratch. But something still seems to be affecting it.

Any help guys?

Cheers

Or maybe even add a user?

Postgres is now reinstalled, but its got the old DB there, so I am still unsure of how to connect to it, as I cannot remember the password.

Ive tried "DBPASS"

Im so stuck now.

Thanks for you help so far.

I'm not sure what to do now. I think that I need to remove the whole server, and all of the files involved with postgreSQL.

There is no /data folder in the postgreSQL, so I cannot edit the config file because it doesnt exist.

That old database you have - is that just in the folders or did you back it up before the re-install? If you only have the folders/files it's not a simple case of the re-install recognizing the old DB. Didn't you delete all the folders as part of the 'complete re-install' I linked above?
Do you need to keep this old DB?

Edit: if there is no data folder then I don't think you re-insatlled properly - try the uninstall/re-install again carefully.

I have bought a new computer. Getting rid of the old one. I have installed the trial version on my new PC. How do I bring my database from my old PC to my new one? I have looked at various posts, but none of those steps seem to work. The pgAdmin isnt working well. I tried generating a tar file, but it says there isnt any space even though I see space. I tried the "compress" version, but it doesnt seem to restore. I even opened PT and used the "Export" that created a pokerstars and fulltilt folder with some stuff, but now way to restore it. Please help. BTW, I am using version.3.00 beta 15.

The GUI didn't restore the "compress" backup. I tried the command line. Getting a bunch of the following error messages:
