postgresql 8.4 pass word..???

im a complete newbie to the software and have read many of the problems here but still cant get my postgresql 8.4 to install...tryed every pass word ive read about an still no joy...not very good with tech issues...am completly dazzed and confused.spent 9 hours today trying to get it working an keep hitting brick walls....any one know pass word for the 8.4 version....im on my knees begging for help...

You shouldn't need a password if you're letting PT3 install postgres for you.
Are you doing a manual install?
Have a look at the install part of "How to reinstall PostgreSQL".
Where exactly are you stuck?
