Error connecting to default database

Postby m4ximu5 » Tue Jul 20, 2010 6:28 pm

"Error connecting to default database"!
After a XP update this message is coming and PT3 dont run.

I think its a Postgre SQL problem, because in the PT3 windows is showing Postgre SQL 0.0.0, but i use v8.3.!?

Any ideas?

Try rebooting your computer - that will often fix this kind of thing.

If PT3 still can't connect to PT3 after that check our Firewall Guide.
Is the postgres service running? It looks like PT3 can't connect to postgres. (Do you see any postgres.exe processes in Task Manager > Processes?)
Click Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. Under Applications are there any errors listed tied to PostgreSQL? If so what do they say?

No Postgre service is runnig and Event Viewer says: "2010-07-19 23:58:46 GMT FATAL: could not create lock file "postmaster.pid": Permission denied
No Postgre".

OK, try stopping the service (Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Stop Service), running a search on your computer for postmaster.pid and then deleting that file, then restarting the service and see if that helps.

Could not found file "postmaster.pid" .
After re- and newinstallation postgreSQL 8.3.11 PT3 works already correct.

Thank you for time WhiteRider
