Installation problems with PostgreSQL

I was trying to instal the PostgreSQL. When it asked me to Configure PostgreSQL Database, I followed the Documentation and left everything hte same and clicked "Create" but I got the following error:
Unable to connect to PostgreSQL database: PT3 Beta DB1 Reason: Unable to login to database (PT3 Beta DB1). Reason: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0000274D/10061) Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

What do I do?

I was just about to post the same question. I get the same messge, except Unable to login to database "(template1)" instead of "(PT3 Beta DB1)"

Hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE to open your Task Manager. Under the 'Processes' tab, do you see any 'postgres.exe' processes?

When you installed PostgreSQL were there any errors? Did you use a different username other than the default 'postgres'?

I tried installing PT3 a month ago or so, got the same error (don't know if I used a different username) and gave up since I wasn't playing on FT/PP/PS. I am playing on PS now and tried to install PT again and had PT3 install PostgreSQL for me and got the error above. I have no Postgre.exe processes running.

hmmm. don't see an edit feature. anyway, i had the rollback issue when installing PSQL described in the thread below, so i will try deleting the directory or installing in another directory and see how that goes, so I guess you can ignore me for now.

I did not see any postgres.exe.

Don't know if you tried this, but I followed the instructions in this thread viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3117 , and just Try deleted the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\ directory and re-installed and now it is fine.
