Please run the main MSI

I am trying to convert my database into porstgresSQL (pokertracker 2)so i downloaded the zip file unpacked it and then i hat 2 setup ( postgresql-8.2 and postgresql-8.2-int)

I ran the 8.2. on till the initialise database cluster entered a password an pushed next

Then there is a error-message saying: "The PostgreSQL data directory must be on an NTFS formatted volume. If you wish to install the data directiory on another type of partition () you must initialise the database cluster manually by running initdb.exe" (which i don`t know if i want do I?)

What is the initdb.exe? is it the other Setup (which does not work as well it open it there is the message "please use the main MSI file to install PostgreSQL"?)

How am i supposed to proceed?

You either need to convert your hard drive's file system from FAT32 to NTFS or during the setup uncheck 'Initialize Database'.

Then once installation is finished, you will need to open your command prompt via Start->Run, 'cmd' OK.

At the command prompt:

cd "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin"

Note: directory may be different depending on where your main PostgreSQL directory is located.

Then type:

Code: Select all

initdb -A trust -D "../data" -U postgres

Then go Start->Programs->PostgreSQL->Stop Service
Then Start->Programs->PostgreSQL->Start Service

I believe that should work for you...
