The folder path Program Files contains an invalid character.

any idea how to fix it?
i am running Vista but i have disabled UAC. and I am still having this problem.

At what step of the installation process does this occur? That is an odd message considering that "Program Files" contains no odd characters :?

It Happens when trying to install Postgres.
Pretty much at the very begining. of the install

Are you running an English language version of Windows? Does the Program Files directory exist?

Yes and Yes. I am running pt and pa hud on this system but for some reason Postgres doesnt want to install.

OK , I looked around and it looks like vista has issuse with Postgres. but the new version 8.3 now installing.

I downloaded 8.3
[url]postgres[/url]http://www.postgresqlforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=191&p=679&hilit=vista+install#p679 forum.

[quotemql]Vista will be supported in the 8.3 release natively, but there are a few workarounds suggested. The bug is documented at http://pgfoundry.org/tracker/index.php? ... 7&atid=126, and there is some suggestions reported in the bug.

I was able to find this workaround, which seems to be fairly straightforward:

1. Start/All Programs/Accessories
2. Right-click on Command Prompt
3. Select "Run as Administrator"
4. Click OK on the dialog that appears
5. cd \[The directory where you put the install files]
6. Run the installer .msi from the command line.[/quotemql]

So 8.3 installed without issue for you?

yes but now PT is having an issue
