How to move PT4 to new PC

I have finally managed to upgrade my computer but am struggling to move PT4 from the old one to the new one.

I am not great with technical issues so is there anyone who could give me some simple steps to transfer PT4 and still keep all the HHs etc?

The easiest thing to do is to click File -> Backup in PT4 and check everything. On the new machine, install PT4 normally (and PostgreSQL of course), then go to File -> Restore and restore the zip file you created from the other machine. That should be all you need to do (besides install your poker client software of course and make sure it is saving hand histories in the same places).

Hi, I have done as suggested, created the restore file, put it on a memory stick and then uploaded it into PT4, from within PT4 on my new computer. Only problem is that after 3 hours when it reports all done, there are none of the HHs there. I have shut down and restarted but still nothing. All that information seems not to have been transferred across.

Did the restore report that it finished OK or did you see any errors?

Have you added the correct name to the Player List (top left)?
Check that you don't have any filters enabled, and that 'show marked hands only' isn't ticked.

All is well, the hands have magically appeared overnight! :D

They were not there yesterday but having shut down overnight and restarted this morning they are here now.

Does this usually take several hours to complete this process? Currently I'm just seeing

It's still running. Well appears to be. The user directory in the new PC doesn't match the old PC but that shouldn't be a problem right? Also I'm using Windows 8 now.

If you have a large database and a lot of hand histories it can take some hours, yes. The different operating system and user directory is not a problem. If it's still going you can check Task Manager to see if PokerTracker4.exe or any PostgreSQL processes are doing any work - if they are, then it's still updating.

Been about 13 hours... PT is using 15% of CPU. This about sql in the task manager is a little worrying though?

That 15% is overall - PT4 isn't using any CPU, and neither is PostgreSQL so I think you'll need to restart. Is this making the backup or restoring?

Restoring. The back-up was done in about 25 mins.

I uninstalled everything again and now have tried re-installing it but now it says can't connect to postgres db. I would have thought it would have asked to re-install the sql db again? Maybe after the uninstall some of the folders remained...? IS there somewhere I can download postgresSQL?
